How did your season go?

I have to say we had the best hunting this year we've ever had.
Great cover and forage, plentiful birds, dove, quail and pheasant, our dogs performed better than they ever have and as the years have mounted - our friendships and fellowship was the best.

Dang, what a great hunting season it's been.

It has been good for us. For the most part the dogs have done well and a female Setter not even a year old has been a real thrill for me. Never had one do so well at such a young age. When you have birds like there are this year the cream can rise to the top quickly. Hope to make 2 or 3 more trips before it is over.

We have one more in a couple of weeks, looking forward to it and next season already.

It's not over. We never had the down years like some of you. This year was about like last year for me.

smile season is going great. A lot of great hunts - long days. Old dog has done great (until he twisted his knee). Young dogs are coming along good. Lost bird count has gone way down since the beginning of the season. Number of coveys and birds have been amazing.

We had more birds on our place last year, not sure what the deal is, still enough for dog work but we aren't shooting hardly any. We still have two west Texas hunts coming up so we'll see how those go. Supposed to be covered up in birds and haven't been messed with yet this season.

I have been hunting a ranch all season that has been good but not great but got to hunt on a new ranch in a different area last week that was 40+ coveys. It was amazing to say the least. Sure hope to be invited back to that quail paradise again and for sure bird populations are better in some places than others even with very similar habitat.

A true blessing for my first season with my pup. Had her at the trainer for 4 weeks and we gave her back and told me him keeping her during the season with this many birds on the ground would be robbery. Was able to put her on almost 100 coveys before she reached 13 months old. No substitute for hunting wild birds. I'm already really sad for her with the end of Feb looming on the horizon.

never explain, your friends won't need it and your enemies won't believe it.

Where do you guys hunt? I haven't seen a quail in Lee county in 20 years.

In the end, it's not the years in your life that count, it's the life in your years.
