I found this very interesting and useful Click ->Quail Hunting Efficiancies pdf <- I have pasted the text below. The link is to the original pdf and includes the charts & tables.

edit: sorry about the bad posting format!!

Basically 8 hunting seasons quail were tracked and tabulated with hunting success at a commercial (?) hunting preserve. In 8 pages including graphs and tables they summarize when quail are active, % successful points, % birds walked past, pointed & ran vs flushed vs held etc. They conclude with a list of hunting tips based on the study.

OWD told my hunt club we didn't need to put a lower limit on quail (different from theirs), because hunters had no impact on overall population numbers. Granted, in a leased space you can shoot them out or more likely run them out. Pretty smart little fellers, they'll leave!
