Greetings,

Any direction in finding a good local DFWish Golden Retriever breeder would be great. I'm looking for someone who actually hunts the parents. Not interested in 'champion bloodlines', just field proven parents. Thanks.

Good luck

I always have heard to go with a TopBrass Lining if you are going to work the dog.

I do not know of anyone in the DFW area with good field bred goldens. I have only been in North Texas for a year and half. They could be here, but I have not found them yet. Good field goldens are hard to come by - expect to wait and travel a bit.

I shot a note off to Wasatch in Colorado to see if anything is planned for 2016. Dr. Powell has been breeding field goldens for over 25 years. My dog is out of Wasatch Kennels. I will PM you with any more info regarding this.

Here is a link to two good breedings on retrieverforum. I know the Quartermoon dogs. I use to train at Rocky Mountain Kennels in Colorado. They have been all about field goldens for 30 plus years.

There is also Wagzu Retrievers out of central Texas. www.wagzuretrievers.com. They just had an outstanding litter with one of their top dogs and GRHRCH Redi for Yeti (www.swampcollie.com), but I am guessing all the puppies are already spoken for.

Lastly, I plan to breed my dog soon, though timing depends on her cycle, personal travel, hunting, and work towards completing HRCH. I am finishing all of Cassie's health clearances now.

Additional info to follow...

If you want to chat about any of this just shoot me a PM.

Good call on the Topbrass dogs.

Wish these folks at DFW MGRC would update their website. Everything is old. All of their events listed are 2012/2013. Last newsletter posted is June 2015. They need a good webmaster like we have at www.lonestarhrc.org.

Nice buck.

I don't know of anyone either. My golden came out of a Wyoming breeder. Not exceptional bloodlines, but I think I really lucked out.
