Never really thought about this until I saw someone mention it in another post. How common is this? I've only noticed this trait on one of my bucks.

I would say 10% of mine have them. I really like them.

While I don't think it's super common, I think it's more common than a lot of people think. I would think it probably occurs in about 5-10% of mature bucks.

I see it on a lot of bucks. Some are more noticeable than others but it's not all that uncommon.

This guy has a double throat patch and a white dot between the two.

See a bunch where we hunt, but majority of the does have them.

Some of the bigger bucks I've seen on my place this year have it. Guessing it's genetic and shows with age.

I don't even know if I have ever seen or shot a buck with one or not. Some folks like em I guess I never noticed/cared.

You probably have a short tined 8pt running with your dagger buck that has one...and a matriarch group. Just an educated guess though.

It's in the genes. If of you see a doe with the double patch, let her walk. She's the one passing it on. We have a 6-7yr old doe on our place with a double patch, and we had a couple other doe with it 8-10 years ago. It's in that herd. Probably half the bucks we see have it.
