I order three cases of R12HD8 Remington Shurshot Heavy Dove from budsgunshop. These are the red and green heavy dove boxes. They sent me three cases of RHD128 Remington Heavy Dove. These are Green and Tan boxes.

Heres where it gets tricky. The cases they sent me are marked RHD128 on the outside. I opened one, and the boxes are green and tan, and say R12HD8 on the bottom. I like the red and green Shurshots, and don't really want to switch. However, if they're the same load, then who cares.

Anybody know if these are the same thing, or should I send them back?

I don't think there's any difference; according to Remington's website both shells have the same powder charge, shot charge/weight, and velocity.

Yeah, the specs all look the same. However, I've seen shells with the same specs that don't shoot anything alike. I bought some of those walmart cheapo federal 100 packs. The specs were identical to there top gun loads. The shells even looked the same. However, when I opened them up, they had different shot, and different powder inside. The walmart cheapos couldn't hit anything, and they were very inconsistent.

I'm just trying to make sure these green and tan remingtons aren't their cheapo version.

My understanding is the "Shurshot Heavy Dove" is the Academy variant of packaging...ammo is the same.

That makes a lot of sense. If I were the buyer for Academy, I'd want my product packaging to be unique so that it would make head-to-head price shopping a little harder and make my version appear a bit special.

Interesting, I've never heard that. The last Shurshots I shot were purchased at Academy. When I look online though, it seems that are a lot of places that sell the Shurshots, not just Academy. I emailed Buds and Remington, so hopefully they can give a straight answer in the next few days.

syncerus, looks like you were right. If anyone is interested, here is the response I got from Remington customer service:

"Thank you for contacting Remington. ShurShot heavy dove loads are exclusive to Academy Sports. The loads are the same.

Thank you and best regards,
Remington Customer Services"

Also, budsgunshop, the business I purchased them from never responded to my inquiry. I guess once they have your money, you're no longer of concern. Not so great customer service on their part.
