Just picked up a used set of swarovski slc neu's.
Its my understanding that to find the build date you take the first two digits of the serial # and add 30.

Doing so gives me the number of 108.

Does that mean the build date is 2010 or 2008?

Thanks much
Brad

Congrats. I’ve steered many friends in the market for great glass to consider preowned Swarovski binoculars because of the stellar optics and their legendary customer service.

Regarding how to determine the date of manufacture for your Swarovski binoculars, back in the 20th Century Swarovski fans as well as Swarovski customer support started to refer to the progressive numbering sequence of the serial number that revels the build date as the Add 30 Rule. Perhaps at least in the first third of the 21st Century it should be known as the Add 1930 rule.

Instead of adding 30 to the first two digits of the serial number, add 1930 and you’ll find the correct year of manufacture. For example, if the first two digits following the first letter in the serial number are 68, as in D68x…, the manufacture date is 1998. (1930 + 68 = 1998). If D70x…, then 2000. So if the first two digits in your serial number are 78, they were made in 2008; if 80, they were made in 2010.

Consider registering with Swarovski Optik North America as the current owner. Once you register you’ll be able to send them in for cleaning, service and upgrades. Chances are they will come back as good as new and often even better; usually returned with the latest coatings, armor and upgrades. Best to send them in when you can be without them for a month or so but it’s absolutely worth the wait.

Blue Moon,
Let me run my recent Swarovski-Optik acquisition by you for a date check. I purchased a pair of Habicht 10x40s at a rummage sale recently for $10.00 (yeah, I know) with case and protective lens cap, all in very good to pristine condition except for the case strap which will have to be replaced. Under the Habicht 10x40 is the serial 137820. There is no letter designation. Any idea what I have here?

Best Regards,
dvelosky

A warrant for your arrest! That should be a crime! Nice find!

I wish stupidity was not so handsomly rewarded.
