It was another weekend of grinding! Some mornings the action was better than the pictures show do to more shooting and releasing. We need some cold weather and full moon to help kick start a migration. Resting ponds 7-10 days has helped, but we still have a handful of ponds that haven't even been hunted yet. Throwing mega spreads of 200-250 duck decoys and sometimes adding goose decoys has been the ticket. We have starting setting up even earlier so we're able to let things settle back down before shooting time. Also limiting the noise and lights when going into a pond and just about anything else we can think of as these ducks are the same ones we've been hunting all season. Looking at the extended forecast we have some cooler weather on the horizon and a full moon coming. A few snows have started to show up and we're going to just let them build and get comfortable. Multiple farms of ours are harvesting 2nd crop rice, so we'll have plenty of food for the geese when they decide to arrive. Need Canada and some of the northern states to start freezing over or get some good snow on the ground so the birds have to start migrating south to eat.
