The land owner on our lease has been hunting our lease. We have several ponds and we hunting separate from him but some members are mad he is using our blinds, not letting areas rest, all after we have paid good money for the rights to hunting. We have talked to him before about how we felt and he seems to understand but now I guess he feels comfortable with us and now hunting again. Any one else have the land owners hunt in their lease? Any issues?
I'll take a Black Female every time.

Find another lease or tell him to take $ off the lease. No way I'd stand for that
Cigarettes are like hamsters. Perfectly harmless til you put it in your mouth & light it on fire

unless you have a written lease agreement that says he cannot hunt you are out of luck..If he leased to you with the assumption he wasnt gonna hunt thats another day....

Contract or hand shake deal? If you have a contract, how are the hunting rights addressed? If you don't have a contract, you probably don't have a leg to stand on other than discussing it nicely again and hoping he gets it. Otherwise some ideas to try... Maybe next season bring up adding it to part of a contract for his and your protection and include who can hunt the property and when. Or if he is considered a gun on your lease, get the members together to set some rules like only hunting weekends, odd or even days, am only, rotation of blinds, whatever. Have all paid guns agree and sign the rules, then have your lease manager present it to the owner gun for his signature. Or as stated, find another lease. Or if the lease cost is cheap, just live with it and strategise your hunting around him.

Private waterfowl leases are such a PIA dealing with landowners, pressure, and other hunters. It's why I prefer to hunt public water. So much easier without all the hassles.

Get a lease in writing and explain to him that you are leasing all the hunting rights so he no longer can hunt on the property per the lease agreement.
Had this happen on one of our leases one time several years ago, showed up to scout for teal season and found dove mojos next to the lake, called the landowner, which lived on the property, and explained to him we owned all the hunting rights and he nor his family could hunt on the property any longer or he could give us all our money back, he agreed with us and said he would no longer hunt the land anymore. May just take a discussion to lay out the rules with him.
If you do not have a contract, get one.

Before you do anything, ask yourself if the lease is in an area where more people want leases than there are leases available.
Need to know if he's lucky to have you or if you're lucky to have the lease.
Assuming you'd want to keep it if he keeps hunting, of course. If it's a deal killer, by all means, politely walk him through your thoughts that your money bought you exclusive use of the land as far as hunting, and that pertains to him as well.

He may just decide he doesn't need you either if you push too hard. His land & if you don't have anything in writing you are out of luck.

I've always kind of looked at hunting on someone else's land as a privilege! Not a right. Doesn't matter if you pay for the hunting or not. Unless it is otherwise specified in a written and signed lease agreement, it's his land to do as he pleases even if it feels as if he isn't doing the most respectful thing. You pay for the opportunity not the right to hunt his land, but he pays for the land and pays the taxes! He still has the right to hunt his own property if he chooses!
That's my opinion!

We never actually deal with our landowner outside of seeing her once or twice a year. Everything goes through her ranch hand whose worked for her since he was 16. He's a good guy. We've never had a contract, we just know what to expect out of him and he knows what we like. He dove hunts religiously up until opening day of bow season. We know that, we knew it when we got the place ten years ago. He usually hunts morning and evening for all of September and asks us all the time to come join him. If he wants to hunt during deer season he calls and makes sure nobody is there. From time to time he likes to come hog hunt and once again calls to make sure either A: nobody else is there or B: if someone else is there do they mind if he hunts. He does a lot for us as far as keeping an eye on everything we leave out there and food plots etc so we don't dare say a thing about him hunting.
You can run but you can't hide...
