Mario Lopez, of Frisco, Bryan Kaminski, of Plano, are among 14 lucky sportsmen recently selected as winners of this year's Big Time Texas Hunts, the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department announced on Friday.

The hunters were selected by random computer drawing from applicants in the department's program.

All told, 13,478 hunters bought Big Time Texas Hunt entries during this year’s sales period, according to a news release.

The addition of the new Ultimate Mule Deer Hunt increased interest in this year’s program, which generated $681,407.30 in gross revenue—a seven percent increase from last year’s sales—to support wildlife research, habitat management and public hunting.

The winner of the new Ultimate Mule Deer Hunt package is Stephen Knowles from Austin. The package includes a three- to five-day trip to hunt mule deer on the newly acquired Yoakum Dunes Wildlife Management Area, which covers more than 14,000 acres of Panhandle prairie grasslands.

Congrats to the winners. I wonder if any are forum members.

"all told, 13,478 hunters bought Big Time Texas Hunt entries during this year’s sales period". I wonder if the number of entries per category is known. That is a lot of entries, but there might be a sleeper in there for better playing the odds.

Those odds don't really count when it is the combined total of separate draws. I did not find this years numbers published anywhere, but did find 2009. Some categories for sure present some better odds of being drawn.
