Guys, I need some advice. I'm trying to get my boat registered and have run into a problem. The state I used to live in screwed up the HIN on my title so it doesn't match my boat. In talking with the TPWD they have told me I will need to bring the boat in for inspection and the local Warden will take a look at it. Here's my question, will he be able to correct the issue and allow me to register it or should I just go ahead and request a corrected title from my old state and start the process new? I have owned the boat for 20+ years but never crossed checked the HIN on the title against the boat. Any advice on this subject would really be appreciated.

Evan

I would call the warden and ask him if he can do that easily and what you will need. Otherwise go back and get it reissued but hate that for ya either wya.

I had a similar instance on my travel trailer that I use at the deer lease. It got stolen and the vin on the title wasn't accurate. Made things difficult for sure. I actually went and double checked all my things because I imagine it is fairly common.

Game Warden can correct the isssue. It will involve an affidavit of fact (pdw314) form. Once they can verify it was an error they can issue a texas title. It might take a bit but it will probably be quicker than going through the steps in the previous state that may involve taking the boat back up there for inspection.

Go register the boat with the title
Your card will say 2000 fiberglass bass tracker 18'ft (example)your card matches your registration number on boat.
Game warden checks your license and says have a great day
