I am ready to finish my first AR and am looking for a complete upper. Given all the companies making them, who would y'all suggest to look at or stay away from. Can I expect to get a decent upper in the $500-$750 range? Thanks

If you built the lower, why wouldn't you just build the upper too? You can build a nice one in your price range.

In that price range you can build a very nice one unless you want high end names. Highest priced items will be barrel and hand guard or BCG

You can for sure find something good in the 500-750 range ... are you looking 556 300Blk or another claiber? I like Daniel Defense personally for 556. (I have a Noveske not DD)

I don't have that much in my entire functioning unit therefore I don't know how to answer. I'm also a little coRnfused on how an upper is the last thing needed to finish the build but I'm usually willing to learn.
Pass the gravy.

yep I built my last 2 uppers for around 550-650$ in 6.8 and 6.5 Grendel with good barrels from black hole weaponry and AR Performance, I used ALG mlok rails on them and really like them and the price. The only difficult thing on building and upper is torquing the barrel nut, which is pretty easy if you have the right tools. I didnt but I still got it done in my improvised vice block lol

agreed not hard. Building it lets you get the exact components you want on it. I feel like the hardest part on the upper is getting the gas block aligned properly. Or driving in those tiny pins. Most barrels have a dimple on it to help you.
