For those that use dove decoys. I bought some feeder decoys. The stake that came with them is meant to allow them to spin with the wind. It has a "limiter" on it so you can only push it in the ground so far, but that will keep the birds 6-8" off the ground. Will that matter much?

Depends on how high the vegetation is. I put the decoys straight on the ground with a stick in the clip so it won't fall over. About 4-6 sitting there looking like they are eating or standing with a couple of Mojos coming into the wind is how I set up in CenTex. Works like a champ if you are where they want to be. Just don't shoot your dekes. birds will land right inside of them.
