I won a doe hunt at this place. Has anyone ever hunted it? What is it like? Do the deer find the corn pretty quickly? Which part of the park should I try to hunt? Are there any exotics out there? Please help

I had a hunt on Walter Buck several years ago. It joins the state park. My area was typical brush and small clearings. Yes to corn if it is allowed. There are exotics around but my info is several years old. Good Luck and have fun.

Just sit down and wait 20 minutes and a deer will come walking by. That place has a deer everywhere.

Just to make sure that it is done thoroughly, I go both ways.

That entire area probably has as many or more axis than whitetail. Our property is just across the highway and less than 4 miles away as the crow flies. I see axis almost every time I sit no matter what stand I'm in.
Just to make sure that it is done thoroughly, I go both ways.

Any way I can come hunt with you at your property? I would be fine with any doe or a cull buck? A meat hunt would be wonderful or let my dad take my place, he is 73 and never has gotten a exotic of any kind.

Try to hunt on the transition between the hills and where the draws empty into the river basin. Sit down on a well used trail and wait. You can corn if you like, but they are more interested in the acorns if there are any. I hunted it several years back and our group all killed our quota while everyone else drew a blank. Just lucky I guess.
Thursday at 12:45 PM #33 Once i learned that i didn't "NEED" to kill something, and that if i did kill something all the fun stopped and work began, i was a much better hunter.
