Just curious to know if we have any neighbors and how things are looking at your place.

I've asked the same question before. Seems that our fellow Erathers like to keep hush-hush.

First year on a lease that's about 4 miles south of New York Hill Restaurant.
Happy to be somewhere other than east Texas. Nice change of scenery.
So far, pics of several does, small buck and a couple of big boars. It's been pretty green this year, so I'm thinking that the bigger bucks may be bedded down close to food source. They haven't needed the corn so far.

south of new York hill is some good country. as long as you can get someplace that is not heavily hunted around. I used to hunt a place not to far from there a little closer to the Hannibal store

We are 5 or 6 miles from Lingleville off of 219 and CR 398. We have a lot of healthy looking deer, with at least 2 does for every buck. Not a lot of good bucks but that is more reflective of our lack of management than it is of Erath county. The deer have lots of vegetation to eat and look fat and healthy. They are hitting the feeders pretty good.

The hogs seem out of control though this year - at least where we are. Will be better hog hunting than deer hunting I am afraid.

I hunt on my family place off 377 in between Dublin and Stephenville and have since 1993, this year should be a really good one if not the best yet. We have had a lot of grass and things for them to eat this year so I'm pretty excited to see what I get on camera...

Erath has been blessed with lots of rain this year, even a few freak storms when other counties got nada. Deer are in great shape. Best that I can remember. Good luck everyone.

I'm just North of Erathkid....prospects are not quite as good as last year but there's maybe one shooter (need to see him in person)...don't ya know cameras adds inches ;-)

More cull bucks this year and not sure why...the super nice 12pt aka Carl went MIA since late January...maybe he headed South to Erathkid's place. ;-)

I'm on the lookout. Lots of new bucks showing up almost daily. Guys on our west fence can't hunt their fairly large ranch this year, it's in litigation after LO died. Mavric, you huntin' "Blazing star"? Beautiful place, for sure.

I just checked my camera last week and was very surprised. One really crazy buck with a third main beam and a couple other pretty good ones. In all, I have at least 10 different bucks showing up on my 38 acres. Last year I only had 5 different bucks show up and only one of them was a borderline shooter. I'm a few miles SW of Erathkid and about 10 miles north of Hico. I'll put the pics up when I get a chance.

I'm in the northern part of the county. I just put out game cameras a week ago, so I don't know what I have yet.

Hey Erathkid...tried to send you a PM but your inbox is full. No we are close to Blazing Star....about 2 miles south of Bluff Dale. Perhaps we can meet up in Bluff Dale - either at Kenny Freds or the gas station for lunch during the season. I use to love getting out of the stand on opening day around noon and head into Bluff Dale to see what came in from the morning hunt. My hunting buddy won the big buck contest at Bruce's two years ago...Bluff Dale is a fun place to hang out on opening weekend for sure.

Mavric, thanks for the heads up on my inbox, deleting now. We'll definitely have to meet up at Kenny Freds. Good times for sure.

Those are nice, was wondering if they where free range, or in the reserve just S of Duffau?

I do have video of a super 12 point on our place there, probably in the 150+ range, free range LF born and raised buck that had no problem with me driving up close at night, but normal skid-ish in the daytime. I bow hunted him, but never connected. There are some great native deer around there, just not huge numbers like the Northern and NE side of Erath.

Yes I am pretty sure me and desert dog are hunting next to each other. We have the same pics of same deer. And yes it is all low fence. Yes we shoot some nice bucks there every yr. But we do have pretty good numbers. I see sometimes 20 at a time in the fields.
