Right between the 2 X's you can see the built in pressure point of the factory Tikka stock. The flex of the plastic stock necesitated the contact point, but it can cause problems when the barrel begins to heat up.


The bottom of the Tikka action is round where the action screws go, but flattened elsewhere on both in front of the magazine and also the tang in the rear.

The Tikka factory stock mirros this configuration of flat and round. The action sits on the flat part.

Now for the B&C stock, my problem is that it is round with no flat spot.It appears to me that only the raised area near the action screws is actually in contact with the stock. Look at the footprint it left.



Furthermore, because of the way it is made, I don't think it sits down on the recoil bar as far as it should. I'm not convinced the B&C stock is engineered correctly. Any comments are welcome...

How much engagement does the recoil bar have to the action?

The factory stock does not have much, so I wonder if the B & C is really less than the factory.

What chambering is the rifle?

I've seen many a Tikka short action shoot like a champ in the factory stock. And a friend of mine has a 300 Win Mag shootig very well (on bipod) in the factory stock, with all that recoil. I'd be curious to see how this rifle shot before and after the B & C. It may not degrade accuracy, so you may not have to worry about a thing.

I have 2 T3's, both in B&C stocks. Both engage the recoil lug in the stock as they should, both barrels float all the way back as they should (neither one did in their original factory stock) and both went from MOA to well under in the B&C stocks with my handloads. Make sure you torque the action bolts down to spec. (I forget what the ft./lb. is at the moment).

Best mod I've done so far to both rifles. YMMV.

Id take that b&c off your hands if your not happy with it
