Built a 55 gallon gravity feeder a few years back, and this year I ended up buying one with a timer. I hunt on 80 acres, although the front 40 is where my friend and his family live, so I hunt the back 40 which is 60-70% grass, the rest wooded.

My question is should I feel the gravity feeder up with protein or something? I obviously don't wanna feel it up with corn, or my timer feeder would be pointless. I don't have to use the gravity feeder, but if I did I want to put something in there that might keep the deer around until the timer goes off. Any food I can put in there that might make them visit my hunting land more and still let them go to corn during timed feedings?
