Going to hang one of my cameras on a small new piece of land and was curious if your camera has a bright flash on it, and it takes a pic of a mature deer, will they stear clear of that area permentaly, or just carry on as usual. If they would possibly never come back, I might just turn the flash off and hope for day pics.

Hopefully the flash won't bother them, but I wanted to check with you guys.

I only run IR flash cams, and the deer sometimes look at the flash but don't care about it. I have never had a regular flash cam, so I can't help with your question. I would imagine that a simple flash would be similar to a lightning strike though, as long as there is no scent or other danger signs to it, a buck might not think twice about a flash.

There's a definite difference in the reaction to deer in East Texas from regular flash cameras compared to IR, but from my experience the deer aren't so spooked that they don't return and they eventually get fairly used to it.

Some deer will spook and some will not care about the flash IME. Deer see lighting when it rains. If you leave the camera there long enough they will eventually get used to the flash. If you can set the camera up where they can not see it before it gets their pic it will help.
