Hello can anyone tell me if there is any public land open for hunting in Harrison, Marion, or Gregg county? I live between Marshall and Hallsville and am looking for a place close by to deer hunt. My family owns land in SE Oklahoma that I usually hunt but due to my work schedule this yr and not having anymore vacation time left I need something closer. Also if anyone knows of a lease around this area or has any openings on their lease come up I would be very interested. I prefer rifle hunting but I also bowhunt so if it is bowhunting only I will take whatever I can get. Thanks

Go to the TP&W website and they will probably have them all listed.

The closest place to you would be Caddo Lake. But I'm not sure if that place requires the annual permit or is a draw place. If there is a area TPWD office near by, just stop by and ask them or look them up on the web or you can call Austin HQ.

Caddo has both the WMA hunting with an APH permit and the NWR has several types hunting. The refuge has a postcard draw for rifle Deer.

There may be other APH units around there too. Check the maps in the APH booklet on the Texas Parks and Wildlife site.
And check with the corps of engineers lakes up that way as well.
Good luck.
