Got my buck from last season back. The cape is terrible, and I'll be using someone else this season, but nonetheless it's hanging on the wall.

I don't think it is an accurate sized form to represent how big bodied he was.

I feel your frustration
I had a fox done by Foster Taxidermy in Lucas, TX
I had given him a drawing of how I want the fox to face , (head turn left)
mount came back with fox looking back (at the tail ); tail broken, not smooth, fur was rough
I paid $450 .... Not worth the asking price
I, too, will be looking for a new taxidermist for my deer this coming season

Unless you use a guy in SE Oklahoma, your safe from using the same guy. Probably used the wrong mold size based on the cape, looks a little loose based on what they used.

^ I agree. That's why I included the two pics of him alive and on the ground to compare against the mount. I didn't weight him, but he was a big bodied mature buck that easily outweighed the average local Atoka,
County buck the taxidermist sees for that area. I think he used his go to form size with out consideration of
measuring the cape I brought him.

Yep, I've been through that frustration also. Not often but once is enough. However you took a very nice buck, you could have him re-mounted with a new cape from a "good" taxidermist. based on your photos.
