Have you started calling the feed stores to line up your seed and fertilizer purchases for the upcoming Fall planting season? Or will you be one of those guys you see in Walmart two weeks before the season opener, pissing and moaning because he can't find anything to plant?

I'll place the call for them to sit in on the loading dock the day I decide to go pick it up.

No cow peas for me this year. I'm tired of the hogs finding and rooting them before they ever get the chance to sprout.

Arrow leaf clover is good on sandy/loam soils. Avoid planting in high pH

Not planting this year tractor needs a lot of very expensive work and I need to let my soil have a year off and unfortunately we have cattle on the ranch for the first time in years. I hate these insane property taxes especially in Hood County we have to have cattle to keep our ag exemption (which doesn't help that much) and I hate dealing with cattle they are by far the dumbest animal I have encountered in my life.

You can get the same tax break in the form of wildlife exemption if you already have agricultural valuation in place. Ask your local appraisal district about it they can work you through it. On the other hand having cattle isn't something I would think would bother folks now.

Not sure why Hood County would be different, but in Brown & Callahan counties, the difference in taxes between Ag Exempt, and not, is THOUSANDS of dollars.

Thank you...thank you very much

I would love to plant something this fall but not sure if I'll be able to being I will need to fence it in. cash is kinda tight right now and would hate to plant a few acres of seed just to have the cattle and horses eat it all. bang
