Really tired of this heat, finding myself daydreaming of fall. Been looking at weather records and it looks like mid to end September may be bearable. What do you consider decent temps for spending the weekend in the woods in a tent?

I will be honest...I have gotten pretty soft when it comes to sleeping in a tent. Can't say I have done it in awhile. I like it cold and some noise, otherwise sleep can be pretty evasive.

If I was going to go tent camping, I would like it to be 55-60 or below.

Right now I'm thinking I'm gonna have my gear ready and the first weekend forecast of overnight lows in the low 70's I'm hittin the road for the lease.

Same here. I can no longer sleep if I'm hot and sweaty.

Hot and sleep don't go well together. 50's or 60's are perfect

I have never been able to sleep well when it is warm. I could do 50's at night 70's in the day, year round and be in high cotton.

Yal thinking about this too hard?

Most people I know going to sit on a tripod/tree stand or even in a deer blind wear long sleeves and a coat in 55 degree weather.

If it has to be that cold for yal to be comfy you may get your dr to check you out.

Been that way all my life, when I was young, I would put my comforter my mom made me use in our deep freezer every night before bed, that is gospel truth, have passed out in the heat when I was a teen. Even now our house is 71* and all I use at night is a sheet. I dont care for a freezing wind though, but like cool weather.

Those things are sure nice as you get older, unappreciated when your young and don't really "think" you need them up

AC set on 68 during the night and more often than not I'll have one leg out of the covers.

I go when I have an opportunity regardless of weather but don't enjoy it till the temps are around 50 at night and mid 60's during the day or colder. When you get older, for me, the cold is easier to bear than the heat.

I can handle working in the heat, but I take many breaks when I get hot and tired. The sweat in the eyes is my sign to stop and seek somewhere cool. I can stand the cold much easier, no problem if I'm dressed right.

Now sleeping, no more tents for me or Mrs C, we have a crappy old '72 RV, but it's got a potty, kitchen, and bed. Plus it's heated and cooled. We sleep there. Me actually, but she is planning something. As the RV gets upgraded and repaired, she is starting to like it more. My saving grace is she thinks my lease is crappy because it don't look like a city park. Cactus and Mesquite ain't her thing. Game cams don't lie, it ain't a crappy lease, but it is no place for old men. Like me. I'm hardheaded.

50s are good tent weather. Having said that 30s and no humidity is pretty bearable as well, just have to sleep in just undies in the sleeping bag so you don't sweat.

For sleeping, anything below 80 with the dew point below 60, dewpoints up to 65 are bearable. day time below 90, dew point is more important, raise the temp above 90, the dew point above 65, or both and it gets increasing uncomfortable. If you ask my wife she'll be in close agreement to txshntr.

I'm nearly 50. I avoid tent camping at almost all costs. I have a 31' travel trailer with 2 super slides, A/C, heat, a shower (with hot and cold water), and a nice pillow-top queen-size mattress.

The only time I sleep in a tent anymore is during the annual MS-150 bike ride from Houston to Austin. I sleep in a small tent when we over-night in La Grange. But, at that point, I'm so damned tired from the day's ride and a few adult frost cold beverages, that I could sleep anywhere. Helps that nighttime temps are usually in the high 40s to mid 50s.

I have to agree with the cooler weather, 60 nights are nice. But I hate cold weather. I did a Boyscout camping trip in -1 degree once. I could not get warm and thought I was going to die. They offered up some kind of award to us, I said no thanks, I was happy to just be alive and to be warm again.
