The place I get to hunt was FLOODED this year by the rains. The water has finally started to go down but an entire bottom land that holds all of the wildlife is still under water. Should I even worry with deer hunting it this year and go on a pig killing spree of hold out and see if the deer come back. I can't access the bottom land but game comes from it into planted wheat fields and the hunting has been great the last few years as deer numbers have skyrocketed. I am worried that after this flood and long period the bottom land will be a waste land and my hunting time will we wasted.

Don't worry about things you can't control.

We are back in our regular summer weather patterns so within a month that will be dry again. The good news is we should still have plenty of warmth and sunshine to create new growth on the soil that is still covered with water.

It could time out just right for you. Stay positive.

Though a lot of the browse that was there has probably drowned, once the water recedes and the sun does it's thing, the new growth will amaze you. Not to mention, the deer will return to find a regular smorgasbord of feed. Hang in there, though it may look bad now, it should be prime by the time the hunting season rolls around.

As for the piggies, shoot 'em on sight

The deer will just change travel patterns. We had a place that flooded a few years back. It only made the deer easier to see. Most of the routes were closer to the main road and in the clearings along side the water. They hit the fields for food instead of staying hold up in the bottom.

My place was 4 feet under water a month ago. Went friday night with a thermal scope and probably saw 50 deer.

Doesn't take them long to return.
