Looks like the tpwd website is now accepting applications for public draw hunts for the 2015-2016 season.

System worked really smooth.
Don't talk the talk if you didn't walk the walk.

The hunts and system are great. The amount of applicants per unit are awful now. I really wish they would go back to one app per category.
I'm guessing Richland and Big Lake were left off due to flooding.

I'm guessing Richland and Big Lake were left off due to flooding. That's plain stupid. Still 3 1/2 months out and TPWD don't think the water will be down by then!!! Not only they cut out more hunts this year, some are short on permits this year. Sheesh!!!

I'm guessing Richland and Big Lake were left off due to flooding. The number applying per hunt was ridiculous.

I agree. I do not like the new system as it creates more competition. It was hard enough to draw a hunt, now that you can select more than one unit, it makes it dang near impossible.

Parks and Wildlife is getting more money. That is what they wanted, and this system gets it for them. Personally, I don't like it as the guy with money can apply for every hunt if he wants. Us poor folks put in for one or two and hope for the best.

A fella from the Richland area told my dad they lost a lot of deer due to flooding. If that's true then it makes sense to cancel. They could still let me hunt and the deer would be safe. Taken 2 shots with my bow out there and missed em both.

I too wish they would go back to one app for category. I also wish they would just let you buy a loyalty point for categories where the dates don't work for your schedule in a particular year. Struck out last year, but I have 6 or more loyalty points in about 6 different categories so I have my fingers crossed.

with the old system if 1000 people applied for one permit, your odds are 1000:1. New system, 1000 hunters put in 10 entries for 1 permit, your odds are still 1000:1. Not really any different unless you are still only applying for one hunt per category. I am applying to almost every hunt in the youth section with the hopes of getting one hunt. If I win more I will not claim it and it will go up for grabs again. And as far as them getting more money, at $3 per entry for me to enter, I think I will survive. I put in for I think 10 hunts for me last year and won none, so I was out $30. I did win a youth hunt on Matagorda Island and took my two boys out. We had a good hunt and hope to get it again this year. Way better than the thousands I was spending on a lease to hang out with my buddies.
