There is power in camp but no 30 amp plugs. I have been using an adapter on the camper plug and was curious if there is a significant downside to doing that as long as I do not overload the circuit and cause the breaker to kick out.

Only downside is you might not be able to run all the appliances at one time. Check your A/C and see what your starting amps are. If you have a gas/electric water heater you may not be able to run it on electricity and run the microwave or Mr. Coffee at the same time. Other than those you should be able to run lights, tv, etc with no problems.........

What HnF said. I sometimes have to use a 30a pigtail and my toyhauler is a 50a. I have never had much problem running short of power. I have even ran the full trailer less A/C in winter elk camp using a 2000 watt ryobi genset.

Only limitation is usable amps as HnF said.

Why don't you replace the 30amp breaker with a 50amp? I assume you have at least a 100amp service. If the panel your getting power from isn't fully loaded you could also run a seperate 50amp circuit just for your camper.

That is a good idea, but with my wiring knowledge, more accurately the lack thereof, I am required to stand at least 20' from any electrical wiring project.

Try not to let the voltage drop below 108 if you use the ac...you can buy a voltage meter that plugs in the wall outlet around $17. It will show the voltage and you will be able to see how each appliance pulls the voltage down.
Like SPG said, find a electrician friend and make the change.

After years of careful research and extensive, focused scientific study, I've determined that electricity is magic.

That would be the easiest "fix", but he best make sure the electrical wire from the breakers is large enough to handle the load and wired correctly for an rv. Also, Rv wiring is almost always 120v, even if supplied with 220v as my 50a RV, wire 220v in wrong and you can fry at a minimum, the transfer ,or power transfer box. In my case, the 220v is "split" at the wall plug, so 2 legs of 120v.

Mas Importante! If wire size is too small for breaker and/or distance is too far the larger breaker may not trip until the wiring in the trailer and in the line is already fried......and roger on the RV wiring!
