Need some real world help here. This would be a hunting build, pronghorn and deer, mainly muley. Bolt action and 300 yrd max. Which would use and why?

Flip a coin and either side it lands on would be a good cartridge.
6.5 Creedmoor easily pushes a 140 gr @ 2800 fps MV with an ES in the low teens.
6.5 x 46 easily pushes a 140 gr @ 2730 fps MV with an ES in the low teens to single digits.
For a 300 yard gun either will do what you ask of it just fine. Lapua brass is high rent, but it lasts 10 firings on the 6.5 x 47 with proper annealing. And the 6.5 x 47 uses small rifle primers.
You have Hornady ammo available for the Creedmoor that can and does compete with handloads.
So back to my original statement, flip a coin, either will make you happy.

If you don't reload go creedmoor otherwise it's a flip of the coin as FiremanJG said.

What they are telling you. I have the Lapua and think it is great, but if you are hunting and not hand loading go with the Creedmoor for ammo available at decent prices. My buddy shoots the 140 Hornandy factory very accurate to 800 yards in his Creedmoor.

I would throw the 260 Remington into the mix also. You need a bit more powder and the extreme spread is slightly higher but otherwise it's a ballistic twin to the 6.5 Creedmor.
for every stereotype there's a prototype don't be the prototype

For a 300 yd hunting rifle there would be no reason to spend the extra coin shooting the 6.5x47. 1000yds and handloading the 6.5x47 has some possible benefit over the creed. Factory creedmoor ammo from Hornady shoots well under MOA in my go to factory savage rifle (shoots at or under 2" at 300 yds) and the 129 sst's have been sudden death on everything I have killed with it so far. I handload most everything but the price of facory loaded ammo for the creedmoor has kept me from loading for this one. I purchased 500 loaded rnds and have the dies and compontents to start loading it when these run out.

Basscat, unless your building a rifle, I'd worry more about finding a rifle I liked than which particular 6.5 roound it was chambered in.

I'm going to have a rifle rebarreled to the 6.5mm. I could not see any real difference for my intended use. I do reload so factory ammo is not a decision maker.

Of course, I'm thinking just the opposite. And I understand, problem is I can't have both so I'm thinking the least expensive overall.

Scrub the barrel clean of machining fluid and steel chips. Seat a 140 gr. even with the lands, as long as will still fit in the mag.
H-4350
Load twenty rounds of 41.4 gr to zero and foul the barrel.
Shoot five shot groups (at 200-500 yards) of: 41.6 gr 41.8 gr 42.0 gr 42.2 gr 42.4 gr
One or two of those will outshoot them all. Run em all through the chronograph (if you have one) most likely the lowest ES will produce the smallest group. That's your load. Once all your brass is fire-formed, re-tweak the load again, if you so desire.
P.S. once the barrel gets about 200-250 rounds down it, it will speed up. That's what 6.5 millimeters do.

Of course, I'm thinking just the opposite. And I understand, problem is I can't have both so I'm thinking the least expensive overall. Brass will last until just this side of forever. Takes about 2 grains less powder per charge. Bullets and primers are a wash. In the long run, x47 will be the cheaper route.

Of course, I'm thinking just the opposite. And I understand, problem is I can't have both so I'm thinking the least expensive overall. If cost is your deciding factor on the ammo, the 6.5x47 Lapua will win out. The brass may be $1 each to start out. But you can get 12-18 reloads on the brass. I know shooters with 15 reloads on their x47 Lapua brass. With the CM, the brass is about $.60 each, and you may get 5-6 reloads. If you averaged out the CM and the x47, the x47 will be less in the long run for ammo if you reload the brass until it's done. Bullet powder, and primer can all be the same cost.
