How's the deer hunting around the Lometa area? I joined a 1,400 acre lease there with a friend for next season. I went last year as a guest and seen 5 to 7 deer per hunt. We seen hogs and they say they have Turkey.

I've hunted in Comstock from 2011 to 2013 and Juno last season. I really like Val Verde county and hated to move on but it was a 8 hour drive and just to far for me to continue to do by myself.

My uncle has about 100 acres about 10 miles NE of Lometa. In the 3 seasons they've hunted it, they've taken a few nice bucks, the best being a 18" 8 point, about 125", but I think that deer was only 3.5 years old so there should be better deer than that. Mind you that's on only 100 acres, so you're lease could be much better. You should see a lot of deer, for sure.

Used to hunt the Oliver Ranch 150 class are common. Hogs and Turkey also. The lease backed up to the Colorado River so we had some varied terrain.

Great area!!

You will see a good number of deer. On a lease that large, if your patient enough, you may be able to get a 140" buck.
