I am still undecided on which scope to put my on new Savage 308. I want a good hog/deer scope, but be able to learn taking some longer shots.

Does anyone have experience with this scope?
The reviews appear to be good. Is the IR good?

I had the 6-24x56 version of this scope and eventually traded it in. With that scope:

- full zoom was not usable because i got noticeably fuzzier. Usually kept it around 20x for my "full zoom" setting.
- held zero well (Savage 22-250 at the time), even though i shamefully admit i've dropped my rifle twice with this scope and one of them it landed right on the scope itself.
- tracking was not too consistent, meaning the amount of clicks indicated did not exactly match what i calculated it should be. That said, it would return back correct, as in if u went 10 clicks up and then back down, the zero spot would be consistent.
- alot heavier than some of it's counter parts

That was the scope that taught me good glass quality is a better trade off than nifty features; illumination, tactical turrets, reticles, etc.

I'm a dude who likes long barrels!

I had the 4x16x50 TRS, held zero, tracked well and was overall a good scope. Only reason I sold it was because of it's weight.
