The post on point photos, started me thinking.. I find am taking far less birds, unless it is a reward for good dog work.. But like the memories.. its a pain.., however.. taking pics from my cell.. fumbling with locating.. then triggering camera, and so on.. may have missed info in another post.. are there any good recommedations on an inexpensive but take a beating.. quick point and shoot camera.. mite as well have the trinity of another item.. dangling from my neck, to go with tritronics and astro..

It's like taking your girlfriend hunting. The hunting messes up your loving, and the loving messes up your hunting.
I simply leave my gun behind. I get some decent pictures with my point and shoot canon. My friend Chris gets some great pictures with his more expensive camera. He got the wadding from a shotgun next to a quail and several pictures of coveys in flight.

Nice pic! I should invest in a camera, my shooting stinks anyhow.

Here's one of the pictures my friend Chris took.

I don't know what camera I have without looking, but I think I paid $300 out the door and it takes great pictures. I carry it slung over my shoulder when we're out chasing birds far more than I carry a gun. I'll look later and post what it is.

I think the area you're hunting makes a lot of difference. I've hunted in over 80 counties in Texas over the last 50 years. Birds, even bobwhites, run and relocate in some areas more than others. It's difficult to get good pictures of relocating dogs. They hold still the best in the coastal prairies, especially when they're in our famous rosebush.

I bought a Canon PowerShot SX700 HS camera and took it on my last couple of quail trips from Amazon. I ended up returning it because I wanted to be able to remote control the camera with my Iphone to do video (and it only allows you to remote control the shutter for stills), but was impressed with how much manual control it had to be able to take pics of covey rises with a high shutter speed etc. Little bigger than run of the mill point and shoot camera. I think I paid $269 for it. Easy to return to Amazon if you dont like it.

Go Pro. You can mount it on your head or even on your dog.

I will try to find my fail bird dog shots. Took her pheasant hunting and she tailed down and hid from the shotgun. Your look great!!
