Anyone have a Bartlein barrel? Is it better than Benchmark?

I've had kreiger, mike rock, bartlein, brux, and shilen. So far, the shilen barrel was the most accurate, and the easiest to tune. We will see how brux stacks up against the others. Honestly, I don't think you will see a whole bunch of difference between the different barrel manufacturers. They all should shoot well.

Bartlein has the advantage of gain twist barrels, if you are into that sort of thing.

I like cut over button so I would pick the Bartlien.

Me too. I prefer Bartlein, when I can get them. I use them on all my competition rifles. They are capable of shooting same hole groups. But, I have built some rifles with the Benchmark, and they shot very well. I believe Derrick with Horizon uses nothing but Benchmark barrels.

Honestly, when you go to a custom barrel, you are leaps ahead of a factory barrel anyway.

Bartlein barrels are excellent but Krieger 4 grooves are my favorite. I have one Brux that is a hummer. I have NO love for 5R barrels. Only advantage to 5Rs is they clean up faster.

That's another question what's better 4 or five grooves?

Bartlein makes a great barrel and so do alot of other companies. If you are OK with the wait, I am sure you will be pleased. I would put alot more thought into selecting the gunsmith than the barrel brand.

Agreed, a lot of folks look down on Douglas barrels but my 280 was built by the late Mickey Coleman in Alabama. He liked Douglas barrels and I figured that if they were good enough for him to build bench rest rifles with then they would be good enough for my hunting rifle. It's a sub .5 rifle and will shoot with any of the Brux or Bartlein barrels in my heard. That being said, when Robert builds my next rifle it will have a Bartlein barrel because that's what he recommends for a top of the line rifle.

The one I have in the works now is getting an Obermeyer. Lots of other barrel makers learned their craft from Boots.

Agreed...I like 4 because it's what I've had luck with.

I like many of the others use a cut barrel...Brux, Krieger & Bartlein are the three I use. Lately, seems I've been buying more Brux.

My replacement barrel on my 300 WM is a 29" tight bore Obermeyer. I have made 3 shots in a row on an 8" plate at 1350 yards. Yes, it shoots REALLY good!

You're using Scott at Live Oak aren't you? He has a Bartlien he's going to use for me.

Yes, Scott is doing the barrel replacement on a CZ 527 end result will be a light weight rifle in 6.5 Grendel.

Hey Kmon1 when is your rifle expected? He told me "about" two months so I still have a month to go. Mine will wear an obermyer as well.

Nice! He told me that he prefered Obermeyer when available but had a Bartlien on hand for a build I could use.

Obermeyer, Rocl Creek, Bartlein, Shilen is what I have used. All but the Shilen would hang with each other. Shilen has ben the "worst" shooting @ 3/4" at 100 yards. When I'm in search of a barrel I want a caliber, and contour, any cut rifled brand Bugholes.com sells is fine with me.

Seems like all the barrel makes never have lighter "sporter" taper barrels in stock, just M-24, Varmint and straight taper. HEAVY
