My wife, kids and I will be driving from California back here to Texas, which is where I am from. I am prior Marine Corps, and got out recently, that is why we are moving back to Texas texas and out of that terrible state!! My wife has a pistol that belonged to her grandfather and was given to her when he passed away. When we travel, where can the pistol be kept? Can it only be kept in trunk, unloaded and locked? Or can I keep it up in the front seat with me? As a just in case I need it scenario occurs.

Want to get some outside advise, from people that may have knowledge about this, before we go on the drive and I end up breaking some states laws on the matter.

Thanks THF!!

Thanks. I found out each states laws on the matter. Turns out California is the only state we will be in that will not allow us to have it in the vehicle and loaded.

It must be locked away, unloaded, and ammunition stored separately

Thank you, and I like the idea of keeping a print out of each states law just to cover my own arse

With your finding of other states allowing you to have it loaded, I assume you have a CHL?
