Was wondering if anyone out there has any experience with 22-6mm. I have a long action 700 and an HS precision stock to do a build on and was interested in it as an on option. I reload and like unusual but not completely esoteric calibers. I have a 6-284 and a 6.5-284 and was thinking about something smaller for this LA.

It would be smaller but with already having 2 of the x-284 why not the 22-284? Go with a 1:8 twist barrel for bullets up to 80 grains and have fun.

For info on the 22-6mm, you will find more data for the 224TTH. Same basic cartridge different name.

That 22-284 you will find that you will just be downloading to get the same performance you can get in the 22-243, 22 creed, 22-6mm. The 22-284 We played with when you push the heavier 22 caliber bullets approaching 3650-3700 they come apart. looked cool on paper but never really liked it. just personal opinion.

as a reff I run the 22 creed with the 75 grainers in the 22 inch barrel with a 4831sc at 3320

I looked at the 22-284, like kmon said, figured I could use the set of 284 based guns. The thing that scared me off first was the price of dies, looks like custom jobs instead of OTC stuff like 22-6mm

Seam like you could use a set of bushing dies and a new seater stem. Thats how I do the 22 creed, just use 6.5 bushing dies and for the seater switch out the 6.5 seater with the 22 seater. still not advocating the 22-284 but I think that could be a cheaper way to do dies.

bullets for it, have had good luck with 75 and 80gr pills from Nosler, Berger, Hornady and Swift for accuracy around that 3300 fps area. Those 75gr Siroccos have been deadly on hogs and deer on shots from less than 10 yards to over 400. I shoot a 22-243 with a 27 inch 1:8 barrel for reference mostly using Reloader 25, it is a slow powder but works with the longer barrel well and the longer bullets. The Noslers and Hornady have been very accurate but so far have only shot game with Bergers and Siroccos, both have done well

Can get the 90gr bergers inside 3/4 inch @ 100 yards when loaded to 3200 but need to load up some more for trying at longer ranges, not sure how they are going to do 3000 with same bullet looks more like a buckshot pattern than a group.

Wow, 90 gr Bergers should have an outrageous BC. I didn't know they had them, I thought the 80 gr Hornadys were heavy.

Sierra and Berger make 90gr pills in .224, the Sierra's are very thin jacketed and will come apart at around 3000 fps from what I was told. I have seen some data for 80gr Hornady bullets but haven't tried them yet.

The Bergers list .551 for G1 and .281 for G7 with the 90 gr. Before buying them I talked with Berger and they said should stabilize ok around 3100, but really a 1:7 would be better with them.
