We decided to make a speed run this afternoon to the ranch because I was convinced they would be moving. "They" weren't but "HE" was. My wife connected on an 8 point this evening. She watched it for almost 20 minutes to make sure it met AR's and it turned out it did by 1/2". Her third season and her first buck (besides spikes to say she was excited would be a gross understatement. It went about 130 yds and there was no blood trail and even if there had been with the weather is would have been sketchy at best even if there had been. I had worked with her on making sure she watched the deer as long as she could possibly see it and noticing what it did when she shot. She knew exactly the direction it went and that it had kicked high when she shot. Dark came on us pretty quickly and we had a couple of buddies of mine out there to help look. I made the assumption it would run in a straight line as long as it could. No tracks and ice on everything. The ice actually helped since I figured any path with ice still on the little limbs was not one the deer had used. I found him after about 15-20 min dead straight in the direction she said he went.
She's a sport she insisted on helping drag him back to where we could get him on the buggy and when we got him back to house she gutted her first deer from start to finish, she also learned what happens when she doesn't run the blade almost vertical with the abdomen. Fortunately it is cold so it didn't smell too bad. I'm very proud of her, she handled it herself from start to finish. If I knew how to post pics I would.

Good Luck DQ! I'll pass you guy's congrats on to the wife she's still floating around. we went to bed last night and she turns to me and says "did I tell you I shot a buck today?" She put it on Facebook and her phone blew up. I'm very happy for her.
