So I thought with all the ice and cold it would be a good day to hunt. With a rifle yes, bow not so much. I went to a unit I had never tried before. Saw three doe about 120 yards out in a tree line. I worked my way around and of course they split. I'm sure the ice on every blade of grass had nothing to do with it. But for enjoying the quiet and chilling after the holidays. It's was perfect.

Still remember my first buck I killed in 2006 at LBJ. I consider it a trophy since it was my first year in Texas and I scouted my buns off.

I know exactly where you were hunting ,know that pine grove like the back of my hand, as for hunting does out of season? Go read the regs, it is late antler less/spike deer season from Jan 5th till the 18th. Not sure about stalking with a bow within 40 yards in the middle of the winter with little or no cover......

as for hunting does out of season? Go read the regs, it is late antler less/spike deer season from Jan 5th till the 18th. I dont think that applies on LBJ Grasslands. I believe does are only legal during the october archery season and the 4 days at Thanksgiving.
