Im just wondering about this. I keep 200 lbs hard baked protein tubs out for my cows and the protein for them makes a HUGE difference. So, what about the idea of putting one of the tubs out for the deer? Would they use it?

I've seen pigs in them before, but not deer.

From what I've seen is axis, aoudad love them... Whitetail will lick them but not as heavily as the others I mentioned. We put some out for heifers north of Del Rio. So there was plenty of deer there and they did hit it just not to heavily.

Depends on the protein source in the tub whether it would be good for deer or not.

If it's a molasses tub or similar and does not contain urethra then yes.
We feed all natural cake, molasses, and combination mineral to deer for over a decade.

I have had deer lick on a molasses tub, but not much and I only saw the young and curious.. The mineral tub and where I fed range cubes much more activity.

I've seen pigs in them before, but not deer. Yep, I had to quit putting them out due to pigs.

We have tubs out for our cows and sheep, but we also have salt/mineral troughs as well. The deer are welcome to use them.
