Anybody use one of these? They look like what I need to hunt a new spot I just found.

Had one, they are heavy and hard to hunt with a dog so I got rid of it, better options for the money

What's a better option? We have a vegetation issue and it's tough wading. Lots of grass spots to hide in with a Momarsh. I'd probably pole it. The farthest we'd go would be 75-100 yds.

I got a fat boy DP with a 7 hp stumpjumper on it, and love it. Impossible to get stuck, simple, I would hate to paddle it though..

Can't speak for other boats, but my boat (fat boy DP) would work great. Very roomy, water tight, layout blind. Dog sits in back when hunting, perfect set up.

I didn't have any room when I hunted with my lab and she is small, also for the OP if you need to get far in these you need a motor like Guy has also they are only good for one person which is he drawback if you ever hunt with anyone else.

The fatboy DP there is a spot specifically for your dog. Second pic above, where the deeks are, that is where the dog sits. There is a crossbar, shooter sits in front of crossbar (see first pic I have layout seat in place), and dog sits behind crossbar, behind shooter. They also make a doggie door that fits over that spot, but I just use burlap. And w/o the motor, perfect place for dog to climb up on boat, shack off, befor getting in boat.

I like love my Momarsh, I have not even taken out my Gator Trax this second split.

I've tried poling thru marsh and it was tough going. A kayak wasn't much better, having to hop out and drag my yak thru mud was a major PITA.

That momarsh hull and motor combo looks like a winner.

Guy, how does that thing handle in rougher open water? Looks like waves would break right over it? Ever had any engine troubles? How would it tow if you had to? I'm curious about the motor, because I wonder if I could somehow use it my canoe!

Many questions will try to answer:

* Big waives is this boat's only weakness. Windy days, open water, need to be real carful. Say strong wind is from the north (10 to 25 mph), and you are going east/west on north shore, you are taking a lot of risk because if motor fails, you are drifting into big water with big waives, not good. You need to be prepared to latch onto tree, or jump out of boat if shallow water, to stop your boat from drifting into dangerous water. Common sense needs to be applied here. But I will say this, if emergency, boat will handle rough water if motor does not fail, if you are on the gas, nose of boat is up, and you can handle big waives, but motor dies in big water you are in trouble. Weight distribution important, youtube shows how it rides, if big waives, I would move dog back to raise nose more..





* Motor Reliability - It has been great. Starts first pull, if it is cold takes 2 or 3 pulls..

* Towing - I have never done, put many have. It is designed for towing.

What is interesting, is if there is timber/stumps, waives never get big. Even 25 mph wind, open water, heavy stumps/timber, waives are small.. No issue here. If motor fails here, you can anchor onto a tree to stop your self from drifting into dangerous water.
