I am wanting to try my act at clay shooting and want to buy a shotgun that is good for a beginner. Price range $1200 and below. Please give me your suggestions.

Beretta 390 for under $750 used. Spend the rest on ammo and professional instruction. Spending the high limit of your budget will not get you a better gun and it won't make you hit more clays.

Yep 390 or 391 great starting gun...the little semi auto will shoot soft and run forever.

Spending the high limit of your budget will not get you a better gun and it won't make you hit more clays. ^^^^^^^^ This The one that fits. ^^^^^^^^ And mostly THIS Remington 1100, Winchesters, Beretta 390, 3901, 391, 302,3,4 and many others all have taken their share of shooting trophies at clays. Find a good instructor in your area and take lessons. The first one should be to check the fit of your shotgun. The Beretta's have shims that will help the shotgun fit you better.

Can't go wrong with Beretta. The new ones are pretty good as well, but I love 390/391.

I went from a .20 ga semi auto to an o/u in .28 gauge. Since, I've been able to consistently hit more clays.
