I get up at 0400 these days no matter what. I sleep so good with that CPAP machine I get all the sleep I need in 7 hours and I can't sleep no more. So I was up in Paris, Texas duck hunting. I went out in a nice green timber hole Sunday up at Redlegs. Things all of a sudden got real expensive for this guy right here. It started off when I (Lost) my transmitter to my Tri-Tronics collar. That was my most favored collar EVER and I am not sure if I can find a replacement. I just bought two collars for it 2 months ago. OHHHHHHHHH that just irritates the living $%^& out of me. So at 1100 hours we folded up the spread, headed to the lodge, packed up, said our goodbye and lit a shuck for home. It is 6.5 hours plus an hour to stop at the lease for my Polaris and Flatbed. Off again I was thinking 2 more hours, I got this whooped. Note to everyone, don't ever say you got this whooped until you get parked in the driveway. Crossing FM105 in Navasota on Hwy6 southbound, hell came to supper. I felt a bang, then a great big loud bang bang bang bang. I figured it was yet another trailer tire coming to pieces so I got off the road as fast as I could trying to save another fender on my trailer. I checked and all trailer tires and hubs were in good shape and running cool. I was perplexed until I saw the lug nut with a lug bolt still in it on the trailer. Another one was in the road. All the lug bolts on my right rear tire sheared completely off. The tire was about to roll free had I continued 10 more feet. OHHHHHHHHH that was turning out to be a bad day at black rock. I had to call a uddy to come get me, my dog, my Ranger and flatbed and take us home. A wrecker had to come get the Excursion. I am sure tire sticking out of the fender that far is in style somewhere, probably Mexico, I am just not stylish. I have no idea the cost nor why this came apart. It could be a broke axle, bearing failure or as simple as a loose nut. If it is a loose nut, I am sure it is the one behind the wheel.l

ouch... hope it isn't that bad ($$$) for you. So you're saying all the lug bolts came completely off the axle hub? Sounds like somehow the axle seized up and the wheel kept spinning which snapped those bolts off? Weird issue- never heard of such a thing.
Wasn't born in Texas, but I got there as fast as I could.

The important part is you made it home safe.
Shopping with your husband is like hunting with the game warden. Experience is what you get, when you didn't get what you wanted.

CPAPs are great. 6 hours of sleep make me feel like I'm sleeping in. Glad you had the situational awareness to get it shut down.

I know right now you prolly aren't thinkin' you were lucky, but count your blessings there! A 3 wheeled Excursion pulling a trailer down the highway could have been an ender.

This all happened b/c we were talking so much smack ab trailer axles being the spawn of Satan. Truck axle wanted to show he's in contention for the title.

Man, glad you're ok. Like most said this could have been way worse.
What type of remote do you need?
Some has to have one that's no longer needed.

I hope I wasn't crying too bad. I rode a patrol car for near 20 years. I been to a few caves and seen the critter that lives inside. The one thing I developed over the years is no matter how bad or costly, if you get home to your loved ones, nothing else makes one bit of difference. There are a lot of men I don't know and some I did know that won't ever get to say that again. So I am blessed. Where I am super duper blessed is my total bill is $250 Apparently lug nuts can back off. I figured it would have destroyed the wheel but there was only wallowed out lug hole. The rest of the lug holes were perfect. I just figured the wallowed out one was the last one to go. I found out I can buy a replacement Tri Tronics transmitter for about $225. So less than a $500 hickey, shoot man I can handle that. I don't want to but hey, play an expensive game and you got expensive bills to pay. I am fortunate I can go make more.
