I just bought this rifle and am pretty excited to try it out this weekend. I was curious if anyone has any suggestions on what optics or setup I should go with? I am planning on reaching out to 100 yards or so for varmints mostly. It is getting too expensive to take out a coon at the feeder with a 30-06 lol. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated!

They're damn boring at 50 so 100 should add some interest. This 93VR17 has a Redfield (Revolution?)3-9X40, don't know what rings.
Pass the gravy.

I have a Swaro Z3 3-9x32 on my CZ 455 in .17 HMR
3-9 is plenty.

I use a Nikon Prostaff 3-9x40 BDC scope. Reasonable price and very good quality for the money. Get the BDC model with the bullet-drop circles below the cross-hairs. On mine, sighted in at 100 yards, the first BDC circle below the cross-hairs is good for 125 yards - or 30 feet. ( Because of the height of the scope above the bore. ) This is very useful for the occasional close-in shot. I use Millet rings, medium I believe. This is the best rifle that I've ever encountered for shooting while standing up on my hind legs. - It handles like a dream.

Thanks all! That's a hell of a groups at 50 so the bar has been set. I was thinking 3x9 as well but was leaning towards the mil-dot scopes. I will put a pic up after deciding and hopefully with some critters in there too!

I loved my .17 so much I bought the twin in 22 Mag. One of my absolute favorite rifles to shoot! I have a Mueller APV on one and a cheaper Simmons on the other. I really like the Mueller APV and would recommend it.

Hey Doc, I asked the salesman if they made that rifle in 22 mag and he told me no! Hmmm, that's what happens when you make impulse buy haha. Those look great though! Still waiting on my paperwork to go through for my suppressors!

Still waiting on my paperwork to go through for my suppressors! I think I got both of them at Dick's Sporting Goods, I can't remember for sure but I know I got one of them there. The last time I checked they will order you any gun you want from the manufacturer's that they carry.

Threw on a very old redfield 3x9 and was hitting bulleyes pretty quickly, so I am happy. I am looking forward to seeing some masked thieves coming after the feeder! I will prob upgrade the scope the next time I get a chance.

Went with a vortex 12x and so far so good. Tack driver at 100 yards I am getting a similar set up going when I get a little more cash. Going to get the Savage 93R17 Suppressor Ready version, Byods "taticool" stock, vortex diamondback 3-9x40 (have this already), and a suppressor. Can't wait to get it going! All the reviews I have read on the 93R17 have been great!

Yall have me talked into one for the last week, and only place I have been able to find one is asking $550 for just the rifle. I will have one in the next couple of weeks or sooner if I come across it..

Buds Gun Shop or any online retailer, have it sent to Blake Madigan (I think thats how you spell is last name) over in Benbrook. He charges 15 per transfer and 10 if you have your CHL.

Lots of things I would buy on the interwebs, but guns I am going to avoid. I like to be able to put my hands on them before giving up the cash. But that is something I may look into if I can't find one locally.

Academy had it for $379 with one 5 round magazine. Does Academy carry .17 HMR rifles? Went to the one in Fort Worth the other day and the guy behind the counter told me they don't carry any .17 HMR rifles. Could have just been that one store though.

I bought it at the academy off of 75 and forest lane in Dallas. They said it was the first one they have had in almost two years. I just talked to my buddy who bought one this afternoon at an academy in san antonio.

Wished I could find one on the shelf like everyone/friends have.
They seem to be vacant on the west side of FTW. Academy/Cabela/Gander Mountain/3 local stores in Wford....

They had them at the Academy in Arlington in the past, they should be able to check the inventory for all of the local stores for you. I also know that Alpine Range in Mansfield/Ft. Worth will order guns for you as well. There is a guy there named Chris who is very helpful, he has ordered a bunch of guns for me that they didn't have in stock.
