Have good friend who bought a trick (new) Rem R-25. Topped with high dollar Nightforce. 20 in barrel 1 in 10. Free float. Cannot find a round that it will group worth a dang. Anybody have one of these and had any luck. Looking mainly at hunting rounds but match ammo too (have not tried Fed 175 SMK yet, didn't have any). He does not reload so mainly looking factory unless we cant get it to group. THX Murph

I would try match ammo first, if you primary goal is to verify accuracy. Also, not to be impolite, but does your friend have a track record of accurate shooting? Sometimes it's not the equipment ...

No offense taken. Had it on a Lead Sled DFT. Took that element out of it.

Pie tin sized spreads? Pictures would help. Pssst.... I don't care how much weight is in the sled, if the scope mounts ain't tight you ain't going to get nothin' to group. I have seen this one too many times to count. ;-)

I have the same rifle and Chad's (dallasreloads.com) (ChadTRG42 on here) bulk 168 AMAX loads shot around 1.5 MOA out of mine.
I also shot 150gr Core-lokts and I think they were 1.75-2 MOA in mine. YMMV.
After some quick load development with 165 gr AB and BT, I got the groups in the 3/4-1MOA range. Good luck.
"I have too many guns," said no one, ever.

Have torque wrench. Scope and mounts are tightened to spec. Not that. We tried the core-lokts with about the same results. Sprayed Hornady 165s and Fed 168s. Now have some Barnes 180 TTSX to try. Hope those help

Try the Q-Tip test on the muzzle. Run a Q-Tip in and out of the muzzle all the way around the diameter and see if you get any snagging. Generally, if there are any burrs, the Q-Tip will leave strands, even though you may not feel it snag.

Well if the rings and mounts are GTG what about the glass? It wasn't a combo deal where the firearm came with it was it? I've heard some horror stories from the sorting rooms of FEDEX/UPS/USPS etc. I would say head back to square one and bore sight it and start the zero process again at 25 yrds.
I would also take it to a smith on the unlikely chance that the firearm made it out the door past the QA/QC folks with a loose barrel nut.

Clean the barrel and start over. Run several patches through it with solvent and then run dry ones until the patches come out clean without any fouling on them.

I would but absolutely nothing past remington at this point, from a poor QA perspective. Bad/no torque on the barrel nut, sloppy chamber dimensions, etc.
If you have the appropriate barrel nut wrench, I'd start by removing, greasing and re-torqueing that.
