How common is deer fibroma ("deer warts") in central TX? A couple of weeks ago, I shot a large doe in Blanco county that was completely covered in dark grey and black warts (especially around the face, flanks, and legs). Most were hardened, some were infected and oozing, not a pleasant sight.
Apparently, it's caused by a deer papilloma virus, and it's the first time I've ever encountered this in any deer, here or in any other states that I've hunted. How often do other hunters here come across deer with bad cases of fibroma in the area?
