There were 4 standby spots when called on Monday so made the drive from DFW since I had a couple days off. Got lucky as my card was the first one drawn when the names were picked out of the can @ 11:00 from the 6-7 other standby applicants.

The park manager/biologist Devin runs a tight ship and were off to the blinds about 12:00 after taking care of the paperwork and viewing a short presentation about the history of the WMA, TPWD Projects they run and normal hunt safety & rules. It's a AR county and he asked every to take a doe to help keep the herd in check.

Tuesday afternoon was almost perfect hunting weather (overcast, damp and a chilly 45 degrees) but not much movement. I only had one folkie come in about 4:45 and just 3 bucks were taken - a barely legal folkie, a 16" 8 and a unique 11 that had deformed right antler from a old injury on it's left leg.

Wednesday morning was slightly warmer but very windy and I didn't see anything but squirrels. Only 2 does taken.

Changed blinds on Wednesday afternoon and went to the backside of the park. About 5:15 saw small 6 sneaking around the back of the field that kept looking over his shoulder that moved out about the time I saw some horns coming down the same path. The 8 following him had a much taller, bigger rack but unfortunately he looked a little narrow
so let him walk. Right at prime time a pack of coyotes cut loose in the draw that the bucks came from and continued yipping until the end of LST. Just one nice 125-130" class 10 brought in.

Didn't a make the final sit this morning as I had to get back to take a couple things at work but was told one more doe was taken. Final total for 11 hunters was 4 bucks and 3 doe.

Even though I stuck out it was a good hunt and I can't say enough good things about Devin and the rest of his team as they did their best to put folks on deer.
