This was a few months ago but anyone else seen any at all in the Fort Worth area? I heard the call and walked in the direction they blew up 15 feet from me. Been heading west for blues for action first bobs I've seen in almost ten years around here.

I live just south of Mustang Creek and have had a covey in a pasture behind my house for years. Every year I think they're gone but always show up and whistle in early summer.

I seen some birds south of there and east of burleson. Not enough to hunt but nice to know a few survive each year.

Chet, throw some grain out occasionally. Try to keep those birds alive.

There seems to be enough seed in the pasture and it's so bare near my place that I'm afraid of giving the hawks too easy a target. I have gone into a large drainage that borders my place and each year shake the ragweed heads to keep it local and thick. Seems to help as I see several each year moving in and out of the cover there. But I've flushed a pair out of rose bushes in front of my house and saw a pair under a neighbors propane tank.

I can tell you I was beside my self a guy with legs could have taken a limit with out a dog around here 15 years ago. I don't care if it was fire ant,el Nino,drought,chupi cabra, or what lol I sure hope they start coming back. Great to see them.

Yes, that's a very nice wild surprise in the Big City.

A week after woodcock season a couple Februarys back, I walked toward the edge of a (doomed, sadly) patch of woods near two interstates in north Fort Worth. Last thing I expected to see was a puffy, fat hen rising slowly and near vertical (clearer "shot" than was offered all season) from the edge, then up and into the woods.

Mother Nature got in a good last laugh there.
