How did you become a hunting guide? What steps would somebody looking to become a guide take? Thanks.

Have enough money put aside so you don't depend on guiding for a living.

First you have to learn alot about the quarry you are hunting

This takes alot of time in the field.

I would start by calling commercial hunting ranches and see if they need help

For it is not the quarry that we truly seek, but the adventure.

Learn how to age and score deer on the hoof. Look at hundreds of deer. Expect to work long hours for little pay. Have great people skills. Don't expect to hunt much.
Also be the jack of all trades. Learn mechanic skills and other ranch type work. The more you know the more marketable you become.
Then like me grow up and get a real job and hunt for fun again. I guided for 15 years. Finally had enuff.
