Just checking to see what kind of movement or rutting action anyone might have been seeing here recently. And see how the overall health of the herds are looking this year. Work has had me tied up so I haven't got to spend the time in the field this year. Thanks and I miss BMD's Live from the Pandhandle thread it has always helped a ton over the years!

I hunt Cottle and Foard and as of last Saturday, it has been excruciatingly slow, due in large part I believe to the native browse and abundance of water, which is not a bad thing for the herd after 3 years of drought. However, when I woke up on Sunday we had freezing mist and ice, so it is my hope that this little snap kicks the herd into gear so to speak and kills off the remaining vegetation. I will be hunting pretty solid starting Friday for two weeks and I suspect as is usually the case in that part of the country, the week before, of and after Thanksgiving is the best. Good luck.

How come everybody I meet is a deer hunting expert?

I'm in cottle aswell and everything I seen this past weekend was little bucks chasing a little, bigger bucks could care less right now and just starting to see the mature bucks roaming around more. Be back at it this Friday for 10days
