How active are pigs mid day on real cold days? I would think they would have to move to say warm like deer to some extent.
I eat everything I kill and I am to fat to be a bad hunter.

u get a chance ta hunt. went ta check a cam. found fresh deer track were put minneral block out. it more for the summer months than now. hopen they'll get used ta it. didn't pull card though. hogs are scarce around here. best wishes

13 remote cameras out and not a single photo in two days they are hunkered down and will be out in force when the weather breaks.

Probably the biggest consideration is the hunting pressure. If they've been shot at a lot, they'll probably avoid going out in daylight.

Pigs are fine on days like these. Shot one last night...15 mph north wind...29 degrees.. He was out foraging. Pigs at our place are pretty much fully nocturnal.

How active are pigs mid day on real cold days? I would think they would have to move to say warm like deer to some extent. These piggies were huddled to stay warm... As dfwroadkill said, they are fine. Do they need to move to stay warm? Not exactly, but they do need to move to forage, usually, and they need food to stay warm. Of course, they just need food to survive and so they will forage. Maybe they are moving more because they need more calories to stay warm, but "more" may simply mean staying out longer, not necessarily covering new territory. In previous years, I have noticed more daylight hog events at feeders in the daytime during colder weather that I was not seeing before the cold weather hit. Now, whether that is a product of the cold to stay warm, because it just feels so good to be out in daylight and not badgered by the heat, running out of food (acorns), or just looking for an easy snack, I don't know. The behavior stops almost immediately with hunting pressure at my place.

TCB i know i'm jealous. hunt 24-7-365. ain't seen hide nor hair of hogs since 23. it was hit & run good  en & chillen size bout 40-45# ave. my posts are cheep. edit: dang android, tis like a hemahroid in the astroid. it come down with a virus.  best wishes all

I would think they would have to move to say warm like deer to some extent. like deer, hogs gonna stay close ta food sources. hunting WMA on cold calm days will see more movement, food sources. cold windy days, they gonna be hunkered in thick or lower terrian ta keep outa the wind. if theirs hills they'll use it ta stay out of wind on side of sun. few more freezes, acorns gonna be gone. they gonna be hitting deer corn. & i'll be sitten & grinnen & with a little luck en & chillen. U had chance ta get out their. still no sign of hogs here. location, location, location. best wishes
