Went to get a scope for a new gun today and found that you cannot find a buck master in a 50mm. Went to 4 stores and after talking to a salesman at basspro he informed me that they discontinued the buck master line and upgraded the prostaff line. The new prostaff line has a side focus and looks just like the old buck master but they are calling it the prostaff 5. I love all my old buck master scopes, so I bought one but haven't been able to find any reviews on them yet but will keep y'all posted. Any one else have any info on this or tried one yet?

I tried one in 3.5-14x40... it was great at 50yds, at 100yds, it showed its true colors. Blurry edges no matter what cheek position used, wouldnt focus to a good crisp image, eye relief at 14x was around 2 inches at best. I was very disappointed and promptly returned it and ordered a Vortex Viper 6.5-20x44 for a few dollars more. That was my first Nikon and it left a very bad taste in my mouth. Not sure I will buy another nikon, even the monarch, when I can get a Vortex for around the same amount. My 8 year old Leupold VX1 4-12×40 is a much better scope than the Prostaff 5.

Hope you have better luck with yours.
